I blog about...

I think most of us who blog, or read blogs, have heard about blogs having their "niche".
And I do think there's a reason for that, consistency is always a plus, following someone for features, info & discussion on a particular topic you love is not only interesting, but helpful.

With that being said, I love when people stray away from that too.
I feel like blogging is empowering because it allows you
to talk about what you want to talk about,
how you want to talk about it,
when you want to talk about it.
There's a reason chatty posts and get to know me/facts about me tags are always so fun to read,
connecting with the person behind the blog, past just the content they produce, is so enjoyable.

For that same reason, it is amazing to see people blog about something they're passionate about.
Some of my favourite posts ever have come from blogs on the days where they've done
"a bit of a different post".

I so admire Instagram accounts that have a specific theme and stick to it, they're amazing to look at and I follow so many of them.
But, me personally, I'm so all over the place.
To be honest, it's not even about being all over the place, I just love to share what I want to share.
Whether it be what I've been upto, where I've been, friends, family, food I'm obsessing over :P

I can't even choose one degree or major for crying out loud, people are always like typical Raashi when they hear I'm doing business, psychology AND journalism :P

Now that I'm writing all of this, maybe I have a problem, indecisiveness anybody?
I WANT IT ALL. :P
That's an issue for another day though...:P

For me, I don't think I could put my blog under one category if I tried.
Or I could, but despite the rules, I just don't want to.

I WANT TO DO MORE MINDFUL POSTS, WHEN I WANT TO DO MORE MINDFUL POSTS.

I WANT TO DO THE ODD BEAUTY/FASHION POSTS WHEN I WANT TO.

I WANT TO DO RANDOM TRAVEL POSTS WHEN I WANT TO.
My India Trip Part 1, 2 and 3.

Heading home from Melbourne after my first solo trip

I WANT TO DO LIFESTYLE-Y POSTS WHEN I WANT TO.

I WANT TO DO CHALLENGE POSTS WHEN I WANT TO.

Living by Mantras Challenge Part 1 and 2.

I WANT TO DO MORE CONTEMPLATIVE POSTS WHEN I WANT TO.

I WANT TO DO POSTS THAT RAISE AWARENESS, SHARE WORDS OF OTHERS AND EDUCATE WHEN I WANT TO TO.

So, maybe all of this just comes from me wanting to do it all? Whoops :P
Haha, no, but seriously -
I want to do posts that are genuinely, sincerely, authentically things I want to share.

Which got me thinking,

Our niche is us.
Your blog's niche is you.

Emily @ Musings & More
Lucy @ La Lingua
Trishna @ Tips Capsule
Angelina @ Angelina Is
Caroline @ Iridescent Places
Rory @ Aluminah
Filippa @ Always a Dot
May @ The Mayden

These guys blog about what they're passionate about and what they want to blog about it,
and in my opinion, that gives them their "niche".
Some of these guys are classified into the beauty, travel, food,  fashion, photography, lifestyle "categories", or a bunch of them.
But what sets them apart is not their blog niche,
but that they are genuine, sincere and authentic in what they're sharing with us.

So, I guess this post of mine can be added to my contemplative category? ☺️

New blog post will be up next Tuesday!!!

  2. This is what I love about your blog so much, Raashi - you cover so many different topics, and your lovely personality really shines through every single post! :) <3 Being a beauty addict, I'd obviously say that I would love to see you do more beauty posts... :D But I also really enjoyed reading about your travels and the mindful series - I remember the love language post, and doing the quiz, it was fun! <3 Whatever you do, just know that I think your blog is super awesome, and you have a loyal follower here no matter what, hun. <3 x x

  3. This post just defined how much I love your blog and of course yourself! I love the various topics you cover, its so different to anything else I read. It's your blog and you've got to do you, post what ever you want and feel like. And lastly, can we just discus how people 'do' an instagram theme, bloody hell, they are so pretty and awesome but if I tried to do one, I think I'd feel constricted in some sort of way ♥

Oh my gosh, right!?!? I so admire the people who do it, it looks absolutely epic, but I just can't imagine managing to do that myself!

  4. This was such a great post! Although my blog is definitely in the "beauty" niche, I find myself wanting to cover other topics too, so I understand why you might not want to file yourself under one particular niche. Having said that, I love that you blog about so many different things, your insights into different topics are really interesting and I think it's something that really sets your lovely blog apart from the rest! Thank you so much for mentioning me, lovely, you're so sweet! xo

  5. i love both blogs how stick strictly to their niche and those that can cover any topic. although if i had to say what my niche is i'd probably say lifestyle/personal style, i like that i don't really have a niche to restrict me, haha! it can be a good and a bad thing, i think, but in the end it's most important to just blog about what you want to blog about! and i do really enjoy reading all your different kinds of posts:-) xxx

    1. Oh my gosh yes, I definitely admire both types of blogs! Haha, if I had to put mine into a niche category it would be lifestyle too - nice and broad :P But, I so agree, it's important to blog about what we want to blog about. Awww, thank you so much, that is so lovely, Laura.

  6. Aw thanks for including me :D completely agree, the only niche you can ever truly champion is your own personality! And it's definitely that that keeps me going back to a blog rather than anything else xxx

  7. Completely feeling this post Raashi!
& from a girl that's been there & had the blog identity crisis T shirt
(metaphorically - though, you know, if we ever find one, I think we NEED it?!) - you're NOT alone!
I see your blog & I see everything you want to & should want to encompass; your loves, your passions, your interests & thoughts. Simply, what's unique to you & this, right there is why you need to keep doing what you're doing. Because you know what, you're doing it amazingly! :)
I'm so happy we got to connect over the internet & for discovering your blog!
    All the love!

  8. I totally get this post! I hate limiting myself to just one thing. I love beauty posts, but I also enjoy travel posts, my "10 things you know when" posts and of although I don't get round to doing a lot of them at uni, my food blogging posts! It's fun to be unique, write what you want because that's what your blog is for! A couple of years ago my blog wasn't beauty at all, but mostly just me writing whatever, but as you grow so does your blog! xx

  10. WOOHOO! I love my little shoutout here, heh! Will definitely be peeking at all the lovely ladies you mentioned!

I'm exactly the same as you Raashi, I don't have a niche and I'm cool with that! If I want to write about my favourite lipstick, I'll do it! If I want to write about food, I'm going to do that too! It's crazy people want to put us into boxes, let's break them down! Keep doing you, Raashi. It's freaking amazing!

  11. I can very much relate to the things you said, my Instagram is also all over the place and I just can't seem to find a blogging niche - but I honestly think that's overrated anyway and I completely agree with you, the best thing about blogging is that you can talk about whatever you want. I would even go so far as to say that I prefer blogs that don't have 'a theme' because honestly, life doesn't have a theme either. ;) The churros look mouth-watering btw and I love the last image of the 'positive' newspaper. xx

    1. Yes! Exactly, it's nice to be able to cover a whole range of different things! Life doesn't have them either - that's amazing!!! Haha, love that! Oh my gosh, Mira, churros are my favourite...but then again, most sweet things are. That's one of my most loved images too, it's the title photo for my new monthly series, hopefully you like it when you read it :)

  12. I like this post! I find it very difficult sometimes when people ask me what I blog about. I started blogging because I knew I had a story to tell and that was it. I like writing and I'm glad that I get to share some of what I experience and know to my readers.

  13. I absolutely LOVED this post Raashi! I relate to everything you wrote, I mean I would definetely like to write more about certain topics and include more photography posts but I don't think I'll ever stop with completely random posts as well, I mean, half of my posts are just me rambling on about nothing, haha! Thank you so much for the little shout out as well girl! xx Honestly, LOVED this post! Amazing! xx

  14. My blog's niche is books. I'm not complaining but sometimes I do feel like I'm restricted on what I want to write about. But then again you can always find interesting things to write about, even though you have a niche. And I totally agree with you: Out niche is us!
